GenCant 2014 Contest!
The Silver Lining
Updated: Wednesday, Aug 13, 2014
Hello, online board gaming community! Are you enjoying GenCon 2014? If you’re one-fifteen-thousandth of the US population, then the answer is yes! Otherwise you’re like me, Chaz Marler from Pair Of Dice Paradise, and several other board game podcasters and content creators, who, as part of the 99.99985% of the population who, instead of attending GenCon, triumphantly turning it from GenCon into GenCan, are absent, turning it into GenCan’t.

But, am I just here to make bad board-game-related puns? Well, okay, but I’m also here to announce a surprise plot-twist that future generations will surely only describe as a last ditch effort to vicariously bask in the joy of GenCon that’s dimly reflected through our twitter feeds.

Several board game podcasters and content creators, all absent from GenCon this year, have joined forces to collectively sponsor a GenCan’t 2014 contest. At the time of this recording, the contest has already started, and continues through the end of Sunday, August 17th, 2014. The GenCan’t 2014 contest is simple, and simply couldn’t be simpler. To enter, tweet a photo of the great time you’re having NOT being at GenCon. What games are you playing? What sights are you seeing? Add the hashtag #GenCantContest in your tweet. And then… oh, no, that’s all there is to it. Tweet a witty picture with that hashtag.

The contest’s sponsors will pick several winners and send out prizes, because, honestly, we have nothing better to do this week. I heard Suzanne from Board Game Breakfast was going to organize the apps on her iPad, and I was considering getting stranded in Toronto. But, now those things will have to wait, because there’s more pressing matters, like reminding you to visit the website gencant.wordpress.com to find posts containing complete contest details, prize lists and more. Then, go tweet it up with the hashtag #GenCantContest.

The contest ends at 11:59pm Pacific Time on Sunday, August 17th, 2014. This contest actually runs longer than GenCon itself! A fact that doesn’t make me feel better in any way.
